	I have a request to address to you. There is a young composer in [[Moscow]], [[A. S. Arensky]] (he is a pupil of [[Rimsky-Korsakov]]), who has written a very talented and elegant symphony. It has been performed here and was a great success <ref name="note1"/>. It would be most desirable for this symphony to be played in [[Petersburg]]. Would it be possible for you to give it a slot in one of the Free Music Schools forthcoming concerts? I can guarantee that this is a work which deserves to be included in the programme of any good symphonic concert, and I confidently anticipate that, given your benevolent condescension to young talents, you will support the creative efforts of this new Russian composer <ref name="note2"/>. Обращаюсь к Вам с просьбой. В Москве пребывает молодой композитор (ученник Р[имского]-Корсакова) А. С. Аренский, который написал очень талантливую и изящную симфонию. Она исполнена была здесь с большим успехом. Весьма было бы желательно, чтобы симфония эта была исполнена в Петербурге. Не найдёте ли Вы возможным дать ей место в одном из предстоящих концертов Бесплатной школы? Я могу поручиться, что вещь эта достойна стоять на программе всякого хорошего симфонического концерта, и заранее убеждён, что, со свойственною Вам благосклонною снисходительностью к начинающим талантам, Вы поддержите композиторские попытки нового русского композитора.

Будте так добры, напишите словечко в ответ. Если Вы хотите, то партитуру можно будет тотчас же Вам прислать, а затем и оркестровые голоса, если понадобится.
