	Is your malaise over? Hopefully it is. We celebrated your birthday by shivering all day from the cold, and the wind was so awful that I didn't even venture to take a stroll after dinner, but walked around the room instead. Nothing in particular has happened generally these days. The lilies of the valleys would like to grow, but the cold prevents this, and they are reluctant to come into bloom. I've been writing a little of my ''[[Suite No. 3\|suite]]''. A wonderful form, but a horrible word. Try to come up with some word, [[Modichka]], that can replace this ''basic'' term. The Scherzo is already written, and now I'm concocting the obligatory number in ''waltz form''. But more and more I'm starting to think that I've written myself out, and if I'm not pilfering from others, then I'm doing it from myself a lot. [[Bobik]] plays a big role in my life ~~her~~; we are terribly good pals, and for the first time he's showing strong sympathy towards me. Before he only allowed himself to be adored, but now it's as if he's starting to appreciate my adoration. And I actually do adore him, even more strongly as time goes by. Well, what a delightful specimen of the human race he is! He constantly comes over to chat with me, but he observes my working hours, i.e. when I'm working in the morning, he only comes for a minute. I'm studying English a great deal, and I think that by the end of the summer, provided I carry on properly, I'll be reading it fluently. It's still hard for me to understand Miss Eastwood. [[Bobik]], the suite and the English language comprise the three forces of attraction at [[Kamenka]], but all the same I often want to be elsewhere, and strangely enough, it's in [[Petersburg]]. Let us suppose it's because you and [[Nikolay Konradi\|Kolya]] are there, but I'll be seeing you soon anyway; it's not so much that, but the fact that living in [[Petersburg]] last year during the coronation left me with indelibly wonderful memories, and now that the second half of May is approaching, I'm being drawn to the banks of the Neva. Твоё рождение мы праздновали тем, что дрожали весь день от холода и ветер был до того ужасен, что даже я после обеда не решился гулять, а ходил по комнате. Вообще за эти дни ничего особенного не произошло. Ландыши хотели бы расти, но холод мешает и они очень лениво расцветают. Я пишу по немножко ''сюиту''. Чудесная форма, — но отвратительное слово.
