	This is my third day here in [[Paris]], but I've still had no news whatsoever from you. Just think [[Panichka]]! After all, the day after tomorrow it will be 3 weeks since we parted ways in [[Batum]], and still not knowing anything about you is very unusual. Could letters really be disappearing? So far I'm spending the time pleasantly, i.e. I haven't been to see anyone else, and I'm living freely as a tourist. I walk all day, going to the theatre in the evenings. My health, thank God, is excellent, and funnily enough, for several day in a row I haven't had my usual heartburn at all. As a result of this I almost decided not to go to [[Vichy]] on this occasion. I'm being inexpressibly drawn home to Russia, and at the first opportunity I'll go straight to [[Maydanovo]]. The only question is when this happy day will come! In any case, I'm sending [[Aleksey]] home in a couple of days so that he can prepare everything that's required, so that I can immediately settle into a routine and start to work. I've been to the theatre twice: to the "''Variétes''", where I saw a very funny farce, "''Le fiacre 117''", and to the "''Châtelet''", where they were giving the féerie "''Les aventures de Monsieur de Crac''". I can't say that I've been particularly cheerful here, but I'm not really moping either. It's impossible to describe how good the weather is, and how beautiful [[Paris]] is at this time of year! Anyone else in my position would be delighted. Just imagine — I've forgotten the Bazilevskys' address, and don't know how to find them here. 	В Марселе я немножко засиделся и только сегодня приехал рано утром в Париж. Марсель красивый, но, в сущности, скучный город. Париж производит на меня такое впечатление, как будто я только вчера из него выехал. Хозяевами гостиницы был встречен восторженно. Занимаю свою прежнюю комнатку, чем весьма доволен, и чувствую себя как бы дома. Увы] ненадолго. 			I was rather held up in [[Marseilles]], and only arrived early this morning in [[Paris]]. [[Marseilles]] is a beautiful, but, essentially, tedious city. [[Paris]] feels to me as though I left it only yesterday. I was greeted enthusiastically by the owners of the hotel. I'm occupying my former room, which I'm very pleased with, and I feel as though I'm home. Alas, not for long. I'll have the life of a free Cossack for a couple of days, but then I'll need to go to meet my publisher, and through him, the whole local musical world. The weather is wonderful. I was expecting letters here, but there wasn't a single one amongst them from [[Panya]], nor from [[Tolya]], nor from ''Kokodes'' (who promised to write). I arrived at 5 o'clock in the morning; I slept poorly in the night, and feel very tired in myself.
