Итак, если б я, согласно преж нему плану, приехал бы в Питер 14-го, то не дождался бы «''Гарольда''», а мне ''чрезвычайно'' интересно, как выйдет на сцене эта опера, наводящая, по правде сказать, уныние, когда её играешь. Если же я выеду в пятницу и 18 в субботу приеду к тебе, то, во-1-х, увижу в тот же день Боба, и это избавит меня от необходимости ехать в Училище чего мне крайне не хочется, а, во-2-х, я тогда, ''вероятно'', дождусь «''Гарольда''». Два же раза ехать очень и утомительно, и разорительно. Итак, в субботу 18 (еще не знаю, почтовым или курьерским) приеду. Ларош, прогостивши 5 дней, вчера уехал. Его гощение было мне чрезвычайно приятно. Но грустно, что несмотря на все мои усилия и на то, что я опять писал под его диктовку, едва-едва я мог выжать из него несколько страничек.

Работа мне даётся с трудом. Я стал ужасно уставать, и голова нередко болит от напряжения (знаешь, мой гвоздь в известном месте головы). Поэтому мне полезно будет съездить в Петербург.
