			[[Modichka]]! I'm sending you 30 rubles for the debt and 100 per month.

			I've been in [[Moscow]] since this morning. There's already been a rehearsal. After my last letter to you, I took ill again (with diarrhoea and an ''unbearably mad'' headache). It reached the point yesterday that I was going to send for a doctor. It seemed to me that this was the onset of some monstrous illness. Suddenly a telegram came that I had to be at the rehearsal today. I said that I could not even think about the rehearsal and that I could not go. Half an hour later, despite being awfully reluctant to go to [[Moscow]], all of a sudden I felt ''thoroughly healthy'', and today it's as if the pain that had been poisoning my life for 10 days in a row had never happened, the diarrhoea has gone, and I have a magnificent appetite. Isn't this a curious pathological fact? This only happens to me.

			Now there are daily rehearsals. They say the opera will be given on 15 December, but I am far from sure of this. I'm very much counting on you and [[Nikolay Konradi\|Kolya]] coming.

			I still haven't decided if I'll be conducting myself. Sometimes I want to, sometimes I don't.

			As for the illness that haunted me relentlessly in [[Maydanovo]], I had thousands of thoughts, plans to leave, to give it all up, etc.

			Now, of course, everything remains as it was. "[[Cherevichki]]" will go on, and I'll come to you in [[Piter]] for the holidays.

Модичка! Посылаю тебе долгу 30 р[ублей] и месячные 100.

С сегодняшнего утра я в Москве. Была уже репетиция. После моего последнего письма к тебе я опять заболел (поносом и ''невыносимой бешеной'' головной болью). Дошло до того, что вчера собрался послать за доктором. Мне казалось, что начинается какая-то чудовищная болезнь. Вдруг принесли телеграмму что сегодня нужно быть на репетиции. Я сказал, что и думать нечего о репетиции и что я не могу ехать. Через полчаса, несмотря на страшное нежелание ехать в Москву, я почувствовал себя внезапно ''совершенно здоровым'', и сегодня той боли, которая 10 дней сряду отравляла мне жизнь, как будто и не бывало, и понос прошёл, и аппетит великолепный. Не правда, ли курьёзный патологический факт?? Это только со мной бывает.

Теперь ежедневно будут репетиции. Говорят, что опера пойдёт 15 декабря, — но я далеко в этом не уверен. Я сильно рассчитываю, что ты с Колей приедете.

Ещё не решил, сам ли буду дирижировать. То хочу, то не хочу.

По поводу болезни, неотступно преследовавшей меня в Майданове, у меня являлись тысячи мыслей, планов уехать, все бросить и т. д. и т. д.

Теперь, разумеется, все остаётся по-старому. Буду ставить «Черевички», а на праздники приеду к вам в Питер.
