|Translated text= days and there was so much fuss and business that for a long while I've had nothing to do with Conservatory affairs besides my visits. But it is indeed true when the mountain will not come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain. I thought it just be worth your knowing that when I'm in Moscow if you were to send a messenger or a note to me in the morning to let me know that you would like to see me at such-and-such an hour, then I would arrange to meet you. I'm always very glad to see you, but in Moscow I have a countless multitude of friends and acquaintances, that it's a physical impossibility to see every one of them who, like Muhammad, won't come to the mountain.

I presently find myself in Borzhom with Praskovya Vladimirovna, who bows to you. I'm drinking the waters, walking and indulging in absolute idleness. Do you know that the divine N. D. Kondratyev is dying? His days are numbered. He has dropsy as a consequence of kidney disease, completely incurable.

If only you knew how marvellous the countryside is in the Caucuses! There is nowhere more fascinating as Borzhom, you couldn't make it up.

Keep well, dear Anna Yakovlevna
