Я тебя скоро увижу и потому много писать не буду; я так измучен суетой, что с ума схожу и не нахожу времени для писем. Сегодня целый день, несмотря на усталость, я странствовал или у меня были гости. Концерт сошёл очень удачно. Об волнении, усталости не буду распространяться, это ты легко можешь себе вообразить. Репетиций было три, кроме генеральной; музыканты относились ко мне не только внимательно, но почти восторженно. Вообще все были очень любезны. Если не ошибаюсь, публике особенно понравилась «''Серенада''»; концерт Сапельников играл очень хорошо; вариации из сюиты были исполнены отлично, и я чувствую, что дирижировал очень хорошо. Аплодировали с свойственной немецкой публике сдержанностью, но все говорят, что успех был настоящий. Вызывали после «Серенады» 2 раза, и der Applaus was sehr genügend. I'll be seeing you soon and therefore won't write much; I'm so exhausted by all the fuss that I'm going out of my mind, and can't find the time for writing letters. Despite being exhausted, today I spent all day either gadding about or receiving guests. The concert went very favourably <ref name="note1"/>. As for the commotion, I won't weary going into all that, because you can easily imagine. There were three rehearsals, besides the general; the musicians treated me not only attentively, but almost enthusiastically. Generally everyone was very kind. If I'm not mistaken, the audience were particularly pleased by the "''[[Serenade for String Orchestra|Serenade]]''"; [[Sapelnikov]] played the concerto very well; the variations from the suite were performed splendidly, and I felt that I conducted very well. The audience applauded with characteristic German restraint, but everyone said that this was a genuine success. After the "[[Serenade for String Orchestra|Serenade]]" I was called for twice, and the applause was very sufficient. There was also strong applause after the variations (once again in the German manner), but I felt that everyone had been interested and satisfied. After the concert there was an enormous reception with a frock-coated [[Bernuth]] <ref name="note2"/>., and after supper I gave a speech ''in German'', as I did the day before. I'll shortly be leaving for [[Leipzig]], and will send you a telegram. I want to spend a few days with you and my other friends, and we'll go on to [[Berlin]] together.<br />
