Кажется, что он слишком поусердствовал и вместе с ними отнёс лежавшие в сундуке и совершенно мне необходимые для пересмотра переводов все мои романсы нигде их не могу найти и прихожу в ужас, ибо переводчик ''M[onsieu]r Collin'', доверил мне романсы с его рукописным переводом, — а я возьми да растеряй!!! Пожалуйста, наведи справку!!!<br />

Dear friend! On leaving [[Moscow]], I instructed [[Aleksey]] to bring you (or perhaps, to the conservatory) the parts and scores which I took abroad with me. It seems that he was too conscientious and took with him other things lying in the chest, and it's absolutely essential for me to review the translations of my romances, which I can't find anywhere; this is terrible, because the translator ''Monsieur [[Collin]]'' entrusted me with his handwritten translations of the romances <ref name="note1"/> — which I've now managed to lose!!! Please, look into this!!!<br />

<ref name="note1">Tchaikovsky's French publisher, [[Félix Mackar]] had commissioned the poet [[Paul Collin]] to translate into French a number of Tchaikovsky's songs; and although the composer was not happy with these translations, the [[Six Romances and Songs, Op. 27]], the [[Six Romances, Op. 28]], the [[Six Duets, Op. 46]], the [[Seven Romances, Op. 47]], the [[Sixteen Songs for Children, Op. 54]], and the [[Twelve Romances, Op. 60]], would nevertheless eventually be published by [[Mackar]] in [[Collin]]'s translations.
