	Милая Аня! Прости, — не писал так давно потому что очень заработался. Странная вещь эта работа! Пока её делаешь, все мечтаешь о невероятном блаженстве, которое наступит, когда её кончишь! И как только кончил, является скука, тоска, хандра и ищешь исцеление опять в работе. Для меня, в сущности, очень хорошо, что меня начинают повсюду приглашать и что я принуждён разъезжать по Европе. Я на [это] жалуюсь, — а в сущности это спасение, ибо иначе я бы от вечной натуги лопнул бы наконец. Теперь я в таком периоде, когда все главные предположенные работы уже кончены и остаётся заниматься кое-какими пустячками, которые дотянут до конца месяца, а там уж начнётся бесконечное катание по Европе.
