Вероятно, ты уже знаешь от Осипа Ивановича, что я в Петербурге. Голландию я отложил до будущего года. Главное, мне хочется поспеть инструментовать несколько нумеров из нового балета, которые я обещал сыграть в концерте здешнего Муз[ыкального] общ[ества] 29 февраля. Если б я поехал в Голландию, то вернулся бы только к первой неделе поста. Кроме того, мне в Париже было весело только первые три дня, пока я был занят секстетом; когда я его тебе отправил, то на меня напала тоска и я решился поскорее домой ехать. Завтра уезжаю в Майданово. ''Тысячи'' франков, полученных по телеграфу, мне не хватило, и я должен был занять у ''Зилоти'' ещё 350 фр[анков], которые прошу тебя по возможности сейчас перевести в Париж (''14, Rue Richepanse'') на его имя.

Кончил ли Танеев переложение «''Иоланты''»? Если нет, то нельзя ли начать гравировать то, что есть? Впрочем, я надеюсь в Майданове найти письма, полученные в Париже после меня. Я засиделся здесь гораздо более, чем думал.

You probably already know from [[Osip Ivanovich]] that I'm in [[Petersburg]] <ref name="note1"/>. I've postponed Holland until next year <ref name="note2"/>. The point is that I want to catch up with orchestrating some numbers from the new [[The Nutcracker|ballet]], which I've promised will be played at a local Musical Society concert on 29 February <ref name="note3"/>. Had I gone to Holland, then I would have only returned in the first week of Lent. Besides this I only enjoyed myself the first three days in [[Paris]], while I was busy with the [[Souvenir de Florence|sextet]]; once I sent it to you I was beset by homesickness, and decided to leave for home as soon as possible. I leave tomorrow for [[Maydanovo]] <ref name="note4"/>. I didn't have the ''thousand'' francs that were wired to me, and I had to borrow a further 350 francs from ''[[Ziloti]]'', to whom I ask you to transfer as much as possible now in [[Paris]] (''14, Rue Richepanse'') in his name.

Has [[Taneyev]] finished the arrangement of "''[[Iolanta]]''"? If not, then is it possible to start engraving what he has already done?<ref name="note5"/> Anyway, I hope to find at [[Maydanovo]] letters forwarded to me from [[Paris]]. I've stayed here far longer than I intended.
