Nevertheless, for ~~principal~~'s sake, I'll still describe everything to you that has happened day by day. The last time I ~~set~~ you a letter from [[Pisa]] was on Tuesday evening 7/19. 	We explored the sights of [[Pisa]]; the famous leaning tower, the cathedral, and the cemetery situated next to it, which is most remarkable. I liked all this very much, especially the wonderful tower. We climbed to the very top and admired the wonderful view. How glad I was not to see the sea and olives: I'm fed up to the teeth with both. After lunch we went to the ''Cascino'', situated very far from the city. The weather was magnificent, not a soul to be found — it was very pleasant. We walked in the forest, which is a enormous enclosure surrounded by a wall, as a result of which there are masses of wild goats, hares and antelopes, maintained at the king's expense. [[Nikolay Konradi\|Kolya]] found this most entertaining. Dinner at the table d'hôte was very drawn out and tedious. We spent the rest of the evening at home. I found the hotel very pleasant. [[Modest]] and [[Nikolay Konradi\|Kolya]] have a magnificent room, fronting the street and illuminated by the sun all day long. this serves as our living room. Next to it, separated from the salon only by a tall archway, is their bedroom. [[Alyosha]]'s room is situated next to their bedroom, and has its own ''toilet'', splendidly arranged. Then, across the corridor, my room is very comfortable and cosy. After the pitiful circumstances at the pension ''Joly'', it all seems so magnificent and luxurious! I was very cheerful all day. Dinner was very good; there weren't all that many people, and they were all English. This is horrible, but then again it ensures some protection from the most tedious ''table d'hôte'' acquaintances. Before dinner we all went for a walk together. First of all, I went to the ''Lung'Arno'' to remember you. How different everything seems to me now! How pitiful I was then, and what a relatively healthy person I am now. After dinner I went for a stroll alone. Due to the onset of spring, the city now has an altogether different physiognomy. У Модеста с Колей великолепная комната, выходящая на улицу и освещённая целый день солнцем. Комната эта служит нам салоном. Рядом с ней, разделённая от салона только высоким сводом, их спальня. Комната Алёши находится подле их спальни и имеет в себе ''нужник'', отлично устроенный. Затем, перейдя через коридор, моя комната, очень удобная и уютная. После жалкой обстановки пансиона ''Joly'', все это кажется так великолепно, так роскошно! Во весь этот день мне было очень весело. Обед был очень хорош; народу не особенно много и все англичане. Это противно, но зато застраховывает от скучнейших ''table d'hôt'ных'' знакомств. Перед обедом мы гуляли все вместе. Прежде всего я пошёл на ''Lung'Arno'' вспоминать тебя. Как теперь мне представляется все иначе! Как тогда я был жалок, и какой теперь сравнительно я здоровый человек. После обеда я гулял один. Осматривали достопримечательности Пизы: знаменитую кривую башню, собор и находящееся при нем кладбище, весьма замечательное. Всё это мне очень понравилось, особенно чудная башня. Мы взбирались на самый верх и любовались чудеснейшим видом. Как я рад был не видеть моря и оливок: и то и другое порядком надоело. После завтрака ездили в ''Cascino'', находящееся очень далеко от города. Погода была великолепная, ни души народа, — это было очень приятно. Мы гуляли в лесу, огороженном на огромном пространстве стеной, вследствие чего в нем имеется масса диких коз, зайцев, антилоп, содержащихся на счёт короля. Это весьма забавляло Колю. Обед за табльдотом был весьма скучен и длинен. Остальной вечер мы просидели дома.

Истративши в отеле очень много денег, мы уехали в 11 часов, а в 2 приехали во Флоренцию и остановились в отеле ''Citta di Milano'',, где я уже заранее заказал помещение. Отель мне очень понравился. У Модеста с Колей великолепная комната, выходящая на улицу и освещённая целый день солнцем. Комната эта служит нам салоном. Рядом с ней, разделённая от салона только высоким сводом, их спальня. Комната Алёши находится подле их спальни и имеет в себе ''нужник'', отлично устроенный. Затем, перейдя через коридор, моя комната, очень удобная и уютная. После жалкой обстановки пансиона ''Joly'', все это кажется так великолепно, так роскошно! Во весь этот день мне было очень весело. Обед был очень хорош; народу не особенно много и все англичане. Это противно, но зато застраховывает от скучнейших ''table d'hôt'ных'' знакомств. Перед обедом мы гуляли все вместе. Прежде всего я пошёл на ''Lung'Arno'' вспоминать тебя. Как теперь мне представляется все иначе! Как тогда я был жалок, и какой теперь сравнительно я здоровый человек. После обеда я гулял один. Вследствие наступления весны город получил теперь совсем другую физиогномию. Масса цветов на каждом шагу, толпы народу снуют по улицам, на площадях масса освещённых пала точек с дешёвыми товарами. Все это показалось мне очень весело. Весь вечер я писал ответ Н[адежде] Ф[иларетовне], от которой письмо ожидало меня во Флоренции. Письмо это на 8 листах необыкновенно, как-то особенно милое и нежное. Пришлось и мне отвечать длинным письмом. Модест, уложивши Колю, ходил гулять и заходил в театр смотреть ''Сальвини'' (соперника Росси) в «Отелло».

Утром мы тотчас же заметили, какая огромная разница между сан-ремским и здешним климатом. Хотя и здесь весна, но далеко не так тепло, как там. Ходили смотреть галерею ''Уфиции''. Я, конечно, тотчас же устал. Модест восхищался, но смотрел поверхностно. Он хочет сходить один, без Коли, в другой раз. Потом они возвратились домой, а я пошёл шляться один. После завтрака я свёл Алёшу в ванну, а потом был в ''Кашино'', где встретился с Модестом и Колей. Представь, как странно! Ведь день я был не в духе и зол? Ни с того, ни с сего. Вечером даже чувствовал себя немножко Нездоровым и рано лёг спать.

	We explored the sights of [[Pisa]]; the famous leaning tower, the cathedral, and the cemetery situated next to it, which is most remarkable. I liked all this very much, especially the wonderful tower. We climbed to the very top and admired the wonderful view. How glad I was not to see the sea and olives: I'm fed up to the teeth with both. After lunch we went to the ''Cascino'', situated very far from the city. The weather was magnificent, not a soul to be found — it was very pleasant. We walked in the forest, which is a enormous enclosure surrounded by a wall, as a result of which there are masses of wild goats, hares and antelopes, maintained at the king's expense. [[Nikolay Konradi\|Kolya]] found this most entertaining. Dinner at the table d'hôte was very drawn out and tedious. We spent the rest of the evening at home. I found the hotel very pleasant. [[Modest]] and [[Nikolay Konradi\|Kolya]] have a magnificent room, fronting the street and illuminated by the sun all day long. this serves as our living room. Next to it, separated from the salon only by a tall archway, is their bedroom. [[Alyosha]]'s room is situated next to their bedroom, and has its own ''toilet'', splendidly arranged. Then, across the corridor, my room is very comfortable and cosy. After the pitiful circumstances at the pension ''Joly'', it all seems so magnificent and luxurious! I was very cheerful all day. Dinner was very good; there weren't all that many people, and they were all English. This is horrible, but then again it ensures some protection from the most tedious ''table d'hôte'' acquaintances. Before dinner we all went for a walk together. First of all, I went to the ''Lung'Arno'' to remember you. How different everything seems to me now! How pitiful I was then, and what a relatively healthy person I am now. After dinner I went for a stroll alone. Due to the onset of spring, the city now has an altogether different physiognomy.
