Не ждите меня, я не приеду в Селище по тысяче причин, из которых не скажу Вам ни одной, ибо это для Вас нимало не интересно. Пожалуйста, извините меня, но поставлен в невозможность исполнить своё обещание, о чём весьма сожалею.

Весьма рад, что Вы кончили симфонию. У меня гора с плеч свалилась. Вы не поверите, как мне совестно, что я навязал Вам эту скучную работу, отвлёкшую Вас от собственных Ваших занятий. Так как ранее осени мы с Вами не увидимся, то попрошу Вас, Сергей Иванович, послать симфонию Юргенсону из Селища. При корректурах, пора которых настанет никак не ранее осени, мы будем иметь возможность проигрывать и изменять подробности, если только в этом представится надобность, что весьма сомнительно. Юргенсон писал мне, что Рубинштейн устраивает в Париже русские концерты и что Вы в них участвуете. Правда ли это? Если «да», то очень рад и желаю Вам всякого успеха.

Прощайте, Сергей Иванович, и не сердитесь на меня. Масловым всем низко кланяюсь.

Don't wait for me: I shall not be coming to Selishche for a thousand reasons, of which I shall not tell you a single one, because this cannot interest you in the least. Please forgive me, but I have been put in a position where, to my great regret, it is impossible for me to keep my promise <ref name="note1"/>.

I am extremely glad that you have finished the symphony <ref name="note2"/>. That's a huge weight off my mind. You won't believe how ashamed I am to have foisted on you this boring job, which has distracted you from your own work. Since we shall not meet before the autumn, I would kindly ask you, [[Sergey Ivanovich]], to send the symphony to [[Jurgenson]] from Selishche. When looking through the proofs, which stage will under no circumstances start before the autumn, we shall have the opportunity to play it through and alter details if there is any need for that at all, which I very much doubt. [[Jurgenson]] wrote to me that [[Nikolay Rubinstein|Rubinstein]] is organizing the Russian Concerts in [[Paris]], and that you are taking part in them <ref name="note3"/>. Is that true? If it is, then I am very glad and wish you every possible success.
