Пишу второпях и потом у кратко. Путешествие было весьма удобно. Рядам со мной ехал ''Карякин'' с женой, и пришлась ''болтать''. В Москве был встречен Алёшей. Остановился в Лоскутной. Вскоре пришёл Юргенсон и завтракал со мной; вслед затем явился Рубинштейн, очень мрачный и расстроенный. Он глубоко оскорблён систематическими нападками газет и поговаривает об окончательном уходе из Консерватории. Мне очень жаль его. В 5 часов ушёл после двухчасовой работы над корректурой литургии. Кстати о корректуре. Твой ''умный'' Аким забыл уложить в чемодан корректуру 12 ф[орте]п[ьянных] пизс. Пожалуйста, милый, отошли её тотчас же к Осипу Ивановичу Юргенсону для отсылки к Петру Ивановичу. {{...}} Заходил к Кондратьевым, очень изумившимся. В 10½ часов в Эрмитаже был ужин, на коем присутствовали Руб[инштейн], Альбрехт, Губерт, Кашкин, Юргенсон, Танеев, Зверев. Было невесело, — почему, не понимаю. Повторение всё тех же вечных похабностей и острот показалось мне на этот раз мало привлекательным. Однако просидели до 3 часов, и я лишь в 4-ом пришёл домой. Теперь 8, а я уж встал и жду Карлушу, который сейчас приедет и поведёт меня тайными ходами на репетицию концерта на хоры.

В 1 еду. Я был бы совершенно счастлив, если б меня не смущала мысль о тебе и о том, что ты грустишь и вообще недоволен и не удовлетворён своей жизнью и обстоятельствами. Но об этом в другой раз. А пока целую тебя бессчётное число раз. Поцелуй Модю, Папу, Володе кланяйся.
