Каменка 31 авг[уста] Почтеннейший друг! Письмо твоё от 25 сегодня получил. Так как я ощущаю совершеннейший упадок сочинительской способности (может быть, временной, а может быть, и окончательный), то с удовольствием принимаю заказ аранжементов моих романсов. Но только ещё далеко то время, когда можно будет за них приняться. Думаю, что я ещё месяца три просижу над просмотром и переложениями Бортнянского, а там начнутся бесконечные корректуры, и я не предвижу, чтобы ранее как через полгода я нашёл бы возможность отделаться от Бортнянского вовсе. А хорош ты, полный собиратель! Более месяца тому назад я написал тебе список недостающих нумеров. С тех пор один из них я получил (трёхголосная литургия); остальные 17 продолжают блистать своим отсутствием. Сегодня я кончил просмотр всех имеющихся у меня 2-хорных творений Бортн[янского]. Завтра начну просмотр трёхголосных, а затем начну переложения двухорных соч[инений]. Это длинная история! Мой Ehren-sold сохрани до моего приезда (в конце сентября или начале октября) об виде марок. По некоторым причинам я должен был отложить на месяц свою поездку в Москву. Благодарю за приглашение остановиться у тебя, но меня уже раньше звал к себе Толя. Впрочем, видеться 6удем ежедневно, так как я именно для Анатолия и тебя и еду в Москву. Не понимаю, за что Кашкин и Зверев могут дуться на тебя? Не кажется ли тебе это? Ты будешь иметь обо мне довольно подробные сведения от Анатолия, и потому я буду краток. Пожалуйста, душечка, пришли мне поскорей недостающие 17 нумеров. Спасибо за Кольрейфа. Kamenka 31 August Most esteemed friend! I received your letter of the 25th today. Since I can detect an overwhelming decline in my ability to compose (perhaps temporarily, or maybe even permanently), then I gladly accept the commission to arrange my romances. But it will still be a long time before I'm able to take them on. I think that I'll be sitting here for another three months reviewing and arranging the Bortnyansky, and then the endless proofreading will begin, and I cannot foresee it being less than six months before I finally have the opportunity to completely rid myself of Bortnyansky. And you're a fine complete collector! I wrote to you with a list of missing numbers more than a month ago. Since then I've received one of them (the three-part liturgy); the other 17 continue to be conspicuous by their absence. Today I finished reviewing all of Bortnyansky's works for 2 choruses that I have. Tomorrow I'll start reviewing the three-part works, and then I'll start arranging the two-part works. This is a long story! Keep my Ehren-sold on account until my arrival (at the end of September or beginning of October). For some reason I've had to postpone my trip to Moscow for a month. Thank you for the invitation to stay with you, but Tolya had already invited me to his. Anyway, we'll see each other every day, since Anatoly and you are the reason for my going to Moscow. I don't understand how Kashkin and Zverev can be angry with you. Why do you think this is? You'll have quite detailed information about me from Anatoly, and therefore I'll be brief.
