Отвечаю по пунктам.
 
1) «''Датскую увертюру''» когда-то посвятил ''наследнику'' и получил драгоценные запонки, которые тотчас же продал за грош Дюбюку. Но это было так давно, что ''как и что'' не помню; во всяком случае хлопотать о разрешении напечатать посвящение ''нельзя'', и на это у меня есть причины, которые сообщу устно. Итак, нужно напечатать без всякого посвящения.
 
2) Посвящение секстета ты написал правильно.
 
3) ''Буссегеру'' потрудись за меня ответить, что я теперь имею спешную работу и потому не могу.
 
4) Недополученные первые 18 стр[аницы] балета суть, вероятно, ''увертюра''. А впрочем, ничего не понимаю и беспокоюсь. Танеев дал тебе ''три тетради'', и ты послал и должен был получить назад ''три тетради''. Так ли?
 
5) Гравировать рукопись, конечно, можно: кроме как для ''viol[on] Répétiteur'' манускрипт ни для чего не нужен.
 
6) Танеев обещает кончить {{und2|все}} к 19 и тогда же отдаст тебе разом всю остальную партитуру.
 
7) ''Сюиту'' из балета нельзя печатать, пока я её не посмотрю, — об этом я тебе уже писал.

1) The "''[[Danish Overture]]''" was once dedicated to the ''heir to the throne'', and I received some jewelled cufflinks, which I immediately sold for half a kopek to [[Dubuque]]. This was so long ago that I don't remember the ''how and why'', but in any case you ''cannot'' seek permission to print the dedication, for reasons that I'll tell you about in person. And so it should be printed without any dedication <ref name="note2"/>.
 
2) You have written the dedication of the sextet correctly <ref name="note3"/>.
 
3) Kindly reply to ''Busseger'' from me that I cannot, due to urgent work <ref name="note4"/>.
 
4) The missing four pages of the ballet are probably the ''overture''. But it's nothing to be concerned or worried about. [[Taneyev]] gave you ''three notebooks'', and you received and should have sent back ''three notebooks'' <ref name="note5"/>. Isn't that so?
 
5) Of course the manuscript can be engraved. Apart from the ''violin répétiteur'' <ref name="note6"/>, the copy isn't required.
 
6) [[Taneyev]] promises to finish {{und2|everything}} by the 19th, and then he'll send you all the rest of the full score.
