Je Vous en prie, cher collègue, accordez moi l'attention d'engager pour mon œuvre trois artistes extra. (Le {{und2|Cor Anglais}} ne peut être joué par le 2{{sup|e}} Hautbois, il m'en faut un excepté les deux Hautbois.)

The poor old man has been suffering from a serious illness, and without assistance he might actually perish. Therefore I ask you, if the sale has already taken place, to give him the money. If that isn't the case, then be so kind as to give him an advance of 25 rubles. If the things aren't to be sold, then we'll sort it out between ourselves.
