Паня-дуся! Я здоров, доволен, благополучен, люблю Паню, люблю Таню, люблю Толю, люблю Скабеевку, люблю Лушу, люблю Степу, люблю Васю и всем вам кланяюсь и посылаю с любовью нежные приветствия. Тут бы и следовало кончить, ибо, в сущности, ровно нечего писать. День идёт за днём, ''сегодня'' до того похоже на ''вчера, а завтра'', вероятно, так будет похоже на ''позавчера'', — что перестаёшь даже измерять время днями и неделями. Даже воскресенье здесь ничем не отличается от будней, ибо церкви нет, звона не слышно, и если б не Алексей, который считает долгом в праздничные дни наряжаться в свои лучшие платья, — то и не знал бы, что праздник. Занимаюсь я очень много, даже слишком много, иногда устаю и не вполне хорошо сплю, но в общем я продолжаю быть очень доволен пребыванием в Гранкине. Модест пишет для Стрепетовой комедию, первые два действия готовы; он уже читал мне их, и я весьма доволен его новым произведением. 20-го августа Коля уезжает гостить в Киев к бабушке, а Модя, по всей вероятности, приедет к нам в Скабеевку.


Целую крепко голубку Паню, ласточку — Таню, белого грибка — Толю, мухоморчика — Васю, сыроежку — Степу, волнушку — Лушу, и т. д. и т. д. Здесь ужасно много грибов, но исключительно шампиньонов, растущих на навозе, так что искать их невесело. До свиданья, душечка моя.

The son of Major Stepan Stepanovich Shilovsky (1823–1862) and his wife Mariya (1827–1879), Vladimir showed an early aptitude for music, and he enrolled at the [[Moscow]] Conservatory aged fifteen. Here his abilities were recognised and encouraged by his professor of composition — Tchaikovsky. After Vladimir's graduation from the conservatory, a number of his pieces were performed in theatres and concert halls, and he is said to have contributed an entr'acte to Tchaikovsky's opera ''[[The Oprichnik]]'' (1870–72)..

In 1877, Shilovsky married Anna Alekseyevna Vasilyeva (1841-1910), daughter of Count Aleksey Vladimirovich Vasilyev (1808–1895), and in 1879 was granted the title of Count Vasilyev-Shilovsky. He died on 25 June/6 July 1893, following a long illness.

Vladimir Shilovsky (1852-1893)

The son of Major Stepan Stepanovich Shilovsky (1823–1862) and his wife Mariya (1827–1879), Vladimir showed an early aptitude for music, and he enrolled at the Moscow Conservatory aged fifteen.
