I find myself held up for several hours in Berlin. I arrived this morning and tonight I'm moving on, directly to Florence. I don't know how long this will take, but until then I find being abroad terribly objectionable. How I would rather be at home, in the country, or with you at Tiflis. I hope that once I start to work my bad mood will pass. We'll see! Yesterday and today I vividly imagined that you had returned home and settled around your old haunts. Nazar, it seems, is very pleased about the trip, and I'm glad to have someone around me, or I should probably have been far more homesick. Write to Florence, Poste restante. I beg Panya and Kokodes to write to me. I kiss you all.

Of the errors which Ziloti was unsure of, three (pages 44, 48 and 20) are not actually errors . The remainder (pages 16, 8, 4) are in fact significant errors that he has discovered. In general dear Sasha has done me an enormous service with his proof reading, he has found a whole mass of the most frightful errors. He's made amendments too, perhaps rather too pedantically, i.e. he has been too obdurate with some of his orthographic principles, and not always to the benefit of clarity. But this is a personal matter, and in general I'm simply delighted to have him as a proofreader. Out of them all, he is the only one in which I am wholly and assuredly confident. For God's sake, send me his address, I want to write him a letter of thanks. You can't imagine how much rubbish he found and corrected. Both him and Dahlgren did well! That one is obsessed with lines and, incidentally, how grateful I am to Ziloti for doing away with all of them. I'm not sending the proofs back by registered post, for speed. However, I still found one or two errors, i.e. after Ziloti — but Ziloti's understanding of harmony meant that he didn't see them as errors. Let him direct his attention to them oth on page 100. To distinguish them from the older notes I wrote: 27th May.

Dear friend!

Of the errors which Ziloti was unsure of, three (pages 44, 48 and 20) are not actually errors [1].

Yours, P. T.

P. S. My God! I thought my misgivings related only to the 1st act! It turns out that there are 2 in the 2nd on pages 234 and 236! For God's sake correct these errors! What else is he unsure of?!!! It would be terrible if they were left! Is it indeed to late???
