I imagine how fed up you are with my letters. Yesterday's second letter was written with regard to Tolya's message that the singer Raab wanted to receive a complete piano reduction. I consider the complaint by the principle performers that they should have the piano reduction to be entirely justified, and therefore I hastened to write to you about the dispatch of my five copies to Petersburg, forgetting that I've already received one. Nevertheless, please still send 5 or even 6 copies to the principle performers. The fact is that they cannot learn the role without the complete reduction. By the way, were the copies promised to Nápravník sent to the Directorate in early August?

Or, oh absent-minded Pyotr, did you forget about this?

With regard to Levenson and Pabst, I'll leave it up to you to decide this question. Perhaps an exception can be made in Moscow, where the opera isn't on — but extract a promise from Levenson in advance, so that he wouldn't dare to write an article before the 1st performance. In Petersburg, with the exception of those performing the opera, this must be categorically refused.

Please, don't forget about the dedication to Nápravník.

Yours, P. Tchaikovsky
