Paris, 14, Rue Richepance, Hôtel Richepance.

Please read through the enclosed libretto and inform me whether you find any changes or cuts are required.

I particularly ask you, dear friend, to pay attention to the 1st act. Wouldn't it be better to divide it into two scenes? Couldn't the first scene end with Mazepa's exit?

I look forward to your reply with the greatest impatience, and I won't start scoring the 2nd act until then (I already have the 1st ready).

Please address it to Paris, where I'm staying for some time. Address: Paris, 14, Rue Richepance, Hôtel Richepance.

Sincerely devoted and affectionate,

P. Tchaikovsky
