I'm hurrying to write you a few words. I was with Nápravník yesterday, and here is the outcome of our discussions:

1) It's necessary to submit the handwritten piano reduction to the directorate before printing. Therefore kindly arrange to have a copy made and sent to Nápravník.

2) The date of performance of the suite depends upon when you send it — but there's no particular need to hurry, because it won't now be included in the programme for the first concert, where they'd wanted to play it, so it's all the same as to whether it's ready in one, two or three weeks.

3) The sooner you send the full score of «The Maid», the better. I told him that Acts 3 and 4 would be sent shortly.

4) Nápravník is awfully keen for you to be his publisher. I'll write to you about this specifically tomorrow.

I embrace you.
Yours, P. Tchaikovsky

5) From "Yevgeny Onegin", I've consented to his performing the waltz and any vocal number he pleases, but the polonaise is excluded. So send him everything he asks for, except for the polonaise.
