Многоуважаемый Богомир Богомирович!

Если бы дела этого рода зависели единственно от меня, я бы был весьма скромен в своих требованиях. Но у Юргенсона, который заплатил мне крупный гонорар и истратил много денег на печатание оперы, могут быть свои расчёты, коих в подробности я, впрочем, не знаю. Сегодня повидаю его и постараюсь сбавить его требования.

If this sort of thing were up to me alone, I should make extremely modest demands. But Jurgenson, who has paid me a significant fee and invested a great deal of money in printing the opera, might have his own calculations, of which I do not know the details. I am seeing him to day and will try to reduce his demands.
