I cannot thank you enough for the consideration with which (knowing my passion for proof reading) you sent me some violin school or other for checking. Unfortunately I am obliged to forgo (for want of time) this loftiest of pleasures... and I'm returning the proof sheets to you.

With regard to the concerto [2], then there are some pages missing, for example 134, — but besides that I've noticed more than a few mistakes???

I'm coming this afternoon.

P. Tchaikovsky

Notes and References

  1. Written sometime during Tchaikovsky's visit to Moscow between those two dates.
  2. The proofs of the full score of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 2, which Jurgenson would publish in February 1881.
