  1. Tchaikovsky was replying to letter from Pyotr Jurgenson dated 17/29 March 1888 (published in П. И. Чайковский. Переписка с П. И. Юргенсоном, том 2 (1952), p. 87), in which Jurgenson asked for the composer's passport in order to collect the items he had posted from Prague and Paris during his European tour.
