10th May 1889 Moscow Golubchik Anatoly Brandukov!
Kindly carry out my following request without delay. E. A. Lavrovskaya wishes at all costs to give a concert with an orchestra in Paris at the end of September (new style). I have attempted to dissuade her, but she will not hear of it, and she is ready to accept a financial loss. So will you go to the concert arranger (I forget his surname) and have him first of all hire the Érard Hall in Paris for one evening in late September (new style). Then he must ascertain whether it will be possible to have Colonne's orchestra for that evening, and produce a general budget of costs, and send all this to Lavrovskaya (Moscow, Imperial Conservatory). Please carry out my request right away, golubchik. From London I left by sea to the Caucuses, spending 3 weeks in Tiflis and I've now only just returned to Moscow. I'm deluged with business and so won't write anything on this occasion. I hope you're now completely well. I hug you, golubchik. Yours, P. Tchaikovsky Write at least a word or two. Address it to Klin. |
