De grâce, faites sonner Votre nom et Votre rang aux oreilles de cet homme intègre. Peut-être son intégrité ne l'empêchera-t-elle pas de tacher de complaire а un personnage haut placé, si toutefois il а réserve une loge pour une occasion semblable. I beg you to let your name and title ring in the ears of this conscientious person. Perhaps his conscientiousness will not preventing him from straining to please an important personage, regardless of whether he had a box reserved for such an occasion [1].

Полное собрание сочинений, том XV-А (1976) suggested it could have been a note written by Tchaikovsky to friends after he had been refused admission to the Maly Theatre in Moscow on 11/23 September 1889 by one of the ticket collectors or similar punctilious official.
