In order to preserve my capital with the bank of Batasha & Co. a little longer, I want Jurgenson to give you the money you demanded for the furniture. Since you yourself have no time to call on him, then on this occasion you should send off for the money (the total value of everything you require) from Pyotr Ivanovich [1]. He has been forewarned.

Yours, P. Tchaikovsky

I kiss your hands.

Notes and References

  1. Pyotr Jurgenson's accounts show that he gave 200 rubles to Aleksandra Hubert on 21 September/3 October 1889, which was to be used to furnish Tchaikovsky's temporary apartment in Moscow during his visit.
