Dear friend. I absolutely cannot do the proof checking without the original full score. And so every time you send me proofs of the opera or ballet , send me the corresponding sections of the full scores. I'm currently reviewing Langers alterations , and becoming angry. No, this is the last time in my life that I'm dealing with this hooligan. And where did we get the idea that he's such a good musician? He's kept this reputation since time immemorial, and I've become accustomed to believing it, while all along he's simply a son of a bitch. Nothing can be entrusted to him. It's a terrible shame that I don't have his manuscript, only the proofs. This will be more work for the poor engraver. The best thing would for him to sign it: "Having corrected a few mistakes, for printing". Meanwhile there are a plethora of errors, i.e. in the proofs. Ah, to hell with it!

I require a copy of "Iolanta", i.e. the piano reduction. Firstly, I need it for reference, and secondly, I want to make a note of everything requiring correction for the next edition. And so, please send it to me.

I think that I'll be visiting Moscow in a few days, and we can discuss many things.

Dear friend. I absolutely cannot do the proof checking without the original full score. And so every time you send me proofs of the opera or ballet [1], send me the corresponding sections of the full scores. I'm currently reviewing Langer's alterations [2], and becoming angry.

I rejoice and congratulate Boris [3].

I couldn't give a damn for Vasilyev; I learned that they were badly burned in Petersburg [4], and yet he still came to ask that nothing be taken from them.

Yours, P. Tchaikovsky
