Извините, что до сих пор Вам не писал; дела у меня очень много, да притом письма писать для меня величайшее наказание. Я решил, что лучше всего писать мне к Анат[олию] и Мод[есту], а им я поручаю осведомлять обо мне всех интересующихся моей особой. Скажу Вам только, что время я провожу далеко не весело, хотя занятия не позволяют о том много думать. Истинное наслаждение я испытывал здесь два раза в русском театре; таких актёров, я думаю, нет во всём мире, и тот, кто не видел здешнюю труппу, не имеет понятия о том, что значит хорошо сыгранная пьеса. О том, что я живу у Рубинштейна и каков этот человек, я Вам не пишу, ибо всё это Вам, вероятно, говорили братья. Вообще же к Москве я едва ли когда-нибудь привыкну; мне всё кажется, что я в неё попал как-то случайно. Дороговизна здесь на всё неимоверная, так что я не знаю, как благодарить судьбу за свободную комнату, предложенную мне Рубинштейном.
