Pavel Borisov

Russian baritone (b. 24 December 1851/5 January 1852 in Volyn province; d. 23 June/6 July 1904 in Odessa), born Pavel Borisovich Borisov (Павел Борисович Борисов).

In 1876, Borisov graduated from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, and gave recitals in Kharkov, Kiev, Odessa and other Russian cities, as well as in England and Italy. From 1882 he was an artist at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where he premiered the role of Kochubey in Tchaikovsky's Mazepa in 1884. After 1894 he moved to Odessa, where he taught singing classes.
