Pavlovsk (Павловск) is a Russian town 25 kilometres south of Saint Petersburg, in the Pushkin region (Пушкинский район) of the federal district of Saint Petersburg.

During Tchaikovsky's lifetime it formed part of the Tsarskoye Selo district (Царскосельский уезд) and Saint Petersburg province (Санкт-Петербургская губерния) of the Russian Empire.

7/19 September 1879 7/19 September 1879 To hear the Scherzo of his Symphony No. 4 performed at a symphony concert. "The performance was mediocre, but to me it was nevertheless pleasant to hear it" [1].
16/28 June 1886 16/28 June 1886 On a day trip from Saint Petersburg. "Walked. Uninteresting music played" [2].
8/20 July 1888 8/20 July 1888 To hear Julius Laube's orchestra, which was "excellent" [3].

The first public performance of any of Tchaikovsky's works took place here on 30 August/11 September 1865, when the Characteristic Dances were conducted in the concert hall at Pavlovsk railway station by Johann Strauss the younger.
