Katerina Ivanovna! Lend me 40 rubles, golobushka. I don't have enough to pay for everything, and right now I won't be able to find Jurgenson [3] anywhere. I'll return the sum to you from Frolovskoye, giving it to Manya [4] to take back.

- ↑ This undated note was dated to 6/18 December 1890 by Alexander Poznansky in his article Письма Чайковского в Йельском университете (США) (2003), p. 84, who points out that Tchaikovsky had come to Saint Petersburg in order to attend the premiere of his opera The Queen of Spades.
- ↑ The autograph was sold in November 2015 by Nate D. Sanders Auctions, Los Angeles [1]. In 1997 it had also been auctioned by Sotheby's (New York).
