Emile Hatzfeld

French-born music publisher and lecturer (b. 1857 in Alsace; d. 1929 in London).

The son of a music professor, Hatzfeld came to London in 1878, where he became a naturalised British citizen in 1896. He worked as a commercial clerk before founding the firm of Hatzfeld & Co. in London during the 1880s. The firm was taken over by Edwin Ashdown Ltd. in 1903. Hatzfeld was also the founder (1894) and first editor of The Strand Musical Magazine.

Hatzfeld and Tchaikovsky met during the latter's visit to London in June 1893.
