Army officer and paternal uncle of the composer (b. 1789; d. 5/17 February 1871), born Pyotr Petrovich Chaykovsky (Пётр Петрович Чайковский).

He was the sixth child of the composer's grandparents Pyotr Fyodorovich Tchaikovsky (1745–1818) and his wife Anastasiya (b. Posokhova, 1751–?).

Pyotr married Yevdokiya Petrovna Berens (or Yelizaveta von Berens), by whom he had eight children: Anna (1830–1911); Sofya (1833–1888); Aleksandra (1836–1899); Ilya (1837–1891). Lidiya (1838–1901); Mitrofan (1840–1903); Andrey (1841–1920); and Nadezhda (b. 1841).

Pyotr Petrovich Tchaikovsky was a Major-General, and was awarded the Order of Saint George (4th class).
