Sergey Tretyakov (1834-1892)

Russian businessman, politician, art collector and philanthropist (b. 1834 in Moscow; d. 25 July/6 August 1892 in Peterhof), born Sergey Mikhaylovich Tretyakov (Сергей Михайлович Третьяков).

The younger brother of Pavel Tretyakov, Sergey began his career in the family textile business, working in overseas sales. From 1877 to 1881 he was the mayor of Moscow, and was a member of the city's branch of the Russian Musical Society, serving as its chairman from 1869 until 1889.
