Cher Monsieur! Permettez moi de remettre le plaisir de Vous connaitre plus intimement et de Vous remercier de vive voix pour l'attention bienveillante que Vous m'avez témoignée à mon retour de Londres. Toutes les heures des deux journaux que j'ai encore à passer ici sont prises, et malgré mon vif désir il m'a été impossible de trouver une demi heure d'entretien amical avec Vous.

Au revoir, Monsieur, et surtout excusez moi et ne doutez pas du plaisir que j'aurais à Vous voir [...]

Dear Monsieur! Permit me to postpone until my return from London the pleasure of becoming more intimately acquainted with you, and to thank you for the kind attention which you have shown to me. Every hour of the two days I have remaining here is already taken up, and so, much as I would have wished it, it impossible for me to find half an hour for a friendly exchange with you.

Until we meet, Monsieur, and above all forgive me and do not doubt the pleasure it would have afforded me to have seen you [...]
