Most respected Adolf Osipovich!
I am eternally grateful to you for the information about Mrs Pfeiffer [1]. I rely completely on Nikolay Petrovich's opinion and will refrain from sending her financial assistance. Thank you also for the pleasant news about "Onegin", and about the fact that I have been chosen as a member of the "Umĕlecká Beseda" [2]. Be assured, dear Adolf Osipovich, that I fully apprecaite the honour afforded me, and I humbly ask you to convey my most vibrant gratitude to the general assembly of the "Beseda". Kindly convey my sincere greetings to your wife. Permit me to imagine embracing you tightly. Your deeply respectful, P. Tchaikovsky Forgive me for addressing you in German — I am unable to write the address in Czech precisely. |
