Тифлис 17 апр[еля] Милый Лёня!
Доехал я сюда совершенно благополучно, хотя в море порядочно качало. Своих нашёл здоровыми. Все у них по-прежнему; няня только жалуется на нездоровье и, на мой взгляд, очень постарела. Погода здесь чудная. Сегодня получил твоё письмо. Я знал, что ты будешь огорчён, что я не приехал к празднику, но что же мне было делать? Я возвратился бы неспокойным в деревню, если бы не побывал здесь. Если бы ты видел, до чего все здесь счастливы, что я приехал. Теперь уж недолго ждать, и приеду я надолго, успею даже надоесть Вам всем. Кажется, я написал тебе, что приеду к дню рождения; это невозможно, но во всяком случае не позже как через 2 недели я отсюда уеду домой. Дам тебе телеграмму. Степана видел мельком; сегодня вечером буду в клубе, где он служит. Все тебе кланяются. Пожалуйста, не сердись и не огорчайся. Феклушу поцелуй за меня. Я надеюсь, что скоро приедут Легошины, и тогда Вам будет веселее. Целую и обнимаю тебя. Твой, П. Чайковский |
Tiflis 17 April Dear Lyonya!
I have arrived here completely safely, although the sea was rather choppy. I find myself well. Everything is as it was before; the nurse [1] just grumbles about her poor health and, it looks to me that she has grown old. The weather here is wonderful. I received your letter today [2]. I know that you will be upset that I did not arrive for the holidays, but what was I to do? It would have been on my conscience if I had returned to the country instead of spending time here. If only you could see how glad everyone here is that I came. There's not long to wait now, and I will be back for a while, with plenty of time to annoy you all. I think I wrote to you that I would be back for my birthday; that is not possible, but in any case I will be leaving here for home in no more than 2 weeks. I will telegraph you. I saw Stepan [3] in passing; tonight I will be at the club where he works. Bow to everyone for me. Please don't be angry or upset. Kiss Feklusha from me.
