Notes and References

  1. Tchaikovsky was replying to a letter from his old friend Ivan Klimenko, who had read about the composer's forthcoming visit to Kharkov in a newspaper. Klimenko arrived on 12/24 March and returned home to Poltava on 15/27 March, the day after Tchaikovsky's concert.
