This is believed to be a painting of the composer by Vonifaty ("Votya") Sangursky, probably painted at [[Kamenka]] in 1881 or 1882. The composer took much interest in Sangursky's education and paid for him to study painting at the Art school in Moscow. | |||
Since 1949 the painting has been owned the Tchaikovsky-Pushkin Museum at [[Kamenka]] (now called Kamianka), and is reproduced here by their kind permission. |

This is believed to be a painting of the composer by Vonifaty ("Votya") Sangursky, probably painted at Kamenka in 1881 or 1882. The composer took much interest in Sangursky's education and paid for him to study painting at the Art school in Moscow.
