1 August Klin Dear friend Sergey Ivanovich!
I fully endorse your move – but I worry that you won't find it to be a comfortable working environment. Why didn't you go to Selishche? This surprised me very much. I'm now already finishing the orchestration of the symphony's third movement, so in around three days I shall turn to the finale, which won't take me more than 3 days. Then I must do the arrangement for 4 hands myself. Perhaps it will be ready by the time you return, and then I can take advantage of your friendship in order to play through it and polish it thoroughly. Whereupon, perhaps, at the end of August I'll have to go abroad for a short while, a week and a half, no more. Upon my return, I'll set about the concerto. Then I'll be in terrible need of you again. I feel somewhat out of sorts, and so forgive me for writing very little. I'm going to sleep. Yours, P. Tchaikovsky |
