Maydanovo

I am very sorry, most respected Yegor Lvovich that I did not manage to see you in Moscow. I was much too tired from all the recent trials and tribulations to visit my friends. I wanted to see you, and intended to do so several times — but I could not find a convenient moment.

I shall not be going to Tiflis and am taking a month to rest at Maydanovo, with frequent visits to Moscow. I shall certainly see you and have the honour and great pleasure of becoming acquainted with 1) your new compositions and 2) with your wife, of whom I have managed to catch only a glimpse.

Until we meet!

Yours, P. Tchaikovsky
