P. Tschaikovsky

It appears that the other guests do not pay for their dinner when they do not eat it; I always have. But if the management of the hotel considers it fitting that I should be no exception, I should like to have the charge for dinner deducted from my account for the 23rd, on which occasion neither myself, my brother or our little one were present, as the maitre d'Hôtel can attest.
P. Tchaikovsky

  1. The recipient of this letter may have been Vincenzo Menghini, who was apparently the manager of the Hôtel Costanzi when Tchaikovsky stayed there from December 1881 to February 1882.
