Please be so kind as to answer me as to whether the full score and parts of the 2nd symphony will be printed at the stipulated time? I am very surprised that you have still not sent me any proofs. Do I really have reason to regret that I trusted you and gave you the score earlier than I ought to have done? After all, your fulfilling your promise has nothing to do with the general misunderstanding regarding my signing of the contract.

I hope that my fears are unfounded and that by the start of the RMS concert season, in whose programme it is to be included, both the full score and the parts will be ready. This, however, is dictated by your interests far more than mine. I am very sorry that Jurgenson, to whom I have given power of attorney to manage all my musical affairs, has not yet managed to visit Petersburg and to speak to in person to clarify the misunderstandings that have arisen. I hope that this will happen soon.

Sincerely devoted,

P. Tchaikovsky
