Я очень виноват перед твоими милейшими родителями и перед всеми Вами, что ни разу, бывавши в Москве, не навестил Вас. Ей-Богу, мне это очень досадно, потому что я искренно всех вас люблю. Но обстоятельства так складываются, что где хочешь бывать — не успеваешь, а торчишь целый день там куда нет никакой охоты идти. У вас, вероятно, для младших братьев будет ёлка. Купи, голубушка, на прилагаемую маленькую сумму подарочки им и тебе с сестрой. Целую твои ручки. Пожалуйста, поцелуй за меня твою милую мамашу, отца, сестру, братьев. I am most ashamed before your dear little relatives and before all of you, for not once coming to see you while I was in Moscow. My God, this upsets me very much, because I sincerely love all of you. But a combination of circumstances meant that I couldn't make it where I wanted to go, and I had to linger all day in places where I wasn't free to leave. You probably have a Christmas tree for your youngest brothers. Golubushka, buy with the small amount enclosed some small gifts for them and your sister. I kiss your hands.
