Баташечка! Я и забыл совсем, что решительно не могу у Вас обедать, ибо раньше дал слово Шпажинскому. Ради Бога, простите! Заеду к Вам, может быть, сегодня, если поспею, а нет, так сговоримся обедать у Вас при первом удобном случае.

Batashechka! I completely forgot that I categorically cannot have dinner with you, because I'd previously promised Shpazhinsky. For God's sake forgive me! Perhaps I'll come over tomorrow, if I can make it, but if not then I'll arrange to have dinner with you at the earliest opportunity.
