26 April

Dear Batasha!

I'm sending you the 4th act [1]. Please take the same pains as with the preceding ones, and two further things: 1) the addition of letters, which as a rule I start each number with letter A and use them liberally, and 2) if possible (and here perhaps Tonichka might also be of some assistance) to check for forgotten sharps, flats, etc.

Please forgive me, golubushka, for landing you with such tedious matters, but be assured that I have no intention of forcing you to work without reward, and you must shake me and Jurgenson down for as much money as possible. The more you take, the lighter my soul shall be, because I know how tedious this work is for you. I'm staying here until I finish the third act.

I hug you.

P. T.

What if you were to visit me next Saturday? I should be glad of that! Thank the bearded toothless one for his letter [2].
