Майданово 3 сент[ября 18]87 Милый мой Толя! У меня есть случай очень выгодно купить у Новиковой 50 десятин леса, где в несколько месяцев и дом можно выстроить. Этот клочок земли с лесом я купил бы с переводом долга в банк, так что в настоящую минуту на купчую, на уплату Новиковой, а начало построек мне нужно пять тысяч. Прежде чем обращаться к чужим, я хочу попытаться попросить этих денег у Пани. То есть, с её и твоего раз решения, Владимир Дмитриевич мог бы выдать мне 5000, а я бы дал вексель. Процентов я могу платить 10 и в какие-нибудь 2 или три года могу выплатит и капитал. Мне кажется, что вексель вполне вас обеспечит на случай моей смерти, но если ты можешь указать другой способ, ещё более вас обеспечивающий, то, конечно, я поступлю как ты укажешь. Ты не поверишь как мне хочется совершить эту покупку! Как бы хорошо на старости лет иметь настоящий свой уголок. В воскресенье, 6-го, я еду в Петербург, но 9-го вернусь и останусь здесь до 20-го, ибо репетиции начнутся не раньше этого дня. Отвечай мне сюда, в Майданово, чем скорее тем лучше.
