Notes and References
- ↑ The date of this letter given in the auction catalogue's summary — "Klin 22. I. 1892" — is problematic, because on 22 January/3 February 1892 Tchaikovsky had not yet returned home from his recent travels. The auctioneers must clearly have misread a number in the date of this letter. We have dated it here provisionally to 28 January/9 February 1892, since that is the day on which Tchaikovsky arrived back at his home at Maydanovo, near Klin.
- ↑ The autograph was auctioned in 1977 by J. A. Stargardt, Marburg.
- ↑ J. A. Stargardt, Autographen aus allen Gebieten (Marburg, 1977), p. 235. Their German translation of the extract reads: "... Gerade eben bin ich von meiner Auslandsreise zurückgekehrt. Unseren Abmachungen entsprechend schicke ich Ihnen meinen Auslandspaß und den Ukas meiner Demission, mit der Bitte, sie weiterzuleiten ...".
