Brailov 22 May My dear Kolya!
I received your letter yesterday and was so happy that I leapt several times! I really miss Modest and you, and often think about you. The house is very big, with so many rooms that it is impossible to count them. The garden is enormous, and has a lot of lovely old trees, and all sorts of flowers and plants. Every day I go for a drive in the woods and a long walk; sometimes I take Alyosha with me, who really likes it here. There is a monastery here, and yesterday I was there and saw a lot of old nuns. Please, remember to write to me often, as I will really miss having no news about you. Bow to your father for me, and kiss your mother's hands, kiss Modest for me, and bow down to your silly little bunny. Alyosha bows to you. I am staying here for a few more days. Your friend Pyotr I kiss you many times, my dear little fellow. |
